San Diego, San Diego County, California, USA. Children are increasingly being used as fictimhood tools. A clear example of this phenomenon can be found in Maria Rivas Flores who dropped off her child at a babysitter's and then report the child missing.

October 09, 2018. 10:15 a.m Dogmom Maria De Jesus Rivas Flores called the police to report her three-and-a-half-year-old son missing. She claimed she had her son in sight, went to another room in the house and within 5 minutes of returning the child was gone. She also claimed the front door was closed and remained closed after the child disappeared, she had searched for 10 minutes before calling the police.

Following the report, dozens of police officers came in heavy-handed with cars, bikes, helicopters and canine teams in search of the tot. A few hours into the drama, the babysitter with whom the child was dropped off noticed the news about the missing child, then she called in to reveal the child was dropped off by mom shortly before the police were informed that he was missing.

Officers went to the caretaker's location and found the child safely in the care of the babysitter. They took the child into protective custody.

October 09, 2018. 4:30 p.m. 35-year-old Maria De Jesus Rivas Flores was booked into Las Colinas Detention Center in Santee on suspicion of filing a false police report, a misdemeanor charge likely with $1,000 bond.
