Semporna, Sabah, Malaysia. With female privilege of not being called a "rapist", Rafeah Buang lashed out smear campaign against male colleague by spreading social media message labeling him a rapist. She felt there would be no retaliation towards her but she was wrong and she became the first fictim made an example of, by law.

December 11, 2014. fictim and man-hater Rafeah Buang had nothing better to do so she decided to create a kidnap rape scare hoax against a male colleague. She concocted a kidnap rape scare message warning members of her WhatsApp group “Karpet Kemas 189 Semporna” to be wary of a black proton vehicle that was purportedly owned by a rapist. She included in the message, the car plate number of the vehicle belonging to a male teacher, and urged for the warning to be spread to family members and friends.

November 28, 2017. 36 year-old Rafeah Buang denied the charge brought against her and pleaded Not Guilty, even though the malicious message was traced to her.

Rafeah Buang made history as the first person in Malaysia to be criminally prosecuted for transmitting false communication through a WhatsApp Group, under section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act. The act provides for a fine of up to RM50,000, or imprisonment for up to a year, or both, and a further fine of RM1,000 for each day the offense continues after the conviction.

This sends a strong message to others hiding behind digital technology to harm innocent peoples' reputation
