Fresno, Fresno County, California, USA. fictim (false victim) Maria Gonzalez fabricated her own kidnap, robbery and possible sexual assault as part of an elaborate ruse to evade the responsibility of paying her subcontractors.

September 01, 2018. Truck business owner Maria Gonzalez turned up at a house gagged, with hands partially bound behind her back, and with head injuries. She claimed she had been kidnapped at gunpoint, robbed of funds which were earmarked to pay her employees, and likely sexually assaulted. At the hospital to be treated for her injuries, she soberly narrated to Authorities that while she stopped her car for pets to cross the road, two masked and armed black men entered her car, bound her arms, gagged her with a rag, and ordered her to keep driving. Shortly after, she claimed, she lost consciousness and she woke up she discovered the bump on her head, the money gone, and moist in her underwear suggesting she was sexually assaulted.

However, after two days of extensive investigation through which inconsistencies with Maria's story were analyzed along with a review of CCTV footage from the area where the fictim claimed she was abducted, detectives had doubts so they interviewed Maria again. A total of 150 minutes of police interview and presentation of evidence finally had Maria Gonzalez come clean and confess she had concocted the incident, a hoax.

September 03, 2018. Fresno police chief in a press conference stated: "The reality is she (Maria Gonzalez) did not have the $9,000 to pay the subcontractors and that's why she made up the story,". An arrest warrant was issued for 32-year-old Maria Gonzalez for false reporting. “Not only did this create an enormous amount of work and pulled our detectives off other cases that they could have been working or should have been working, but it created a lot of fear in our community.” said the Police Chief.
