Sandusky, Michigan. In effort to create an insurance scam with fake Cancer Diagnostics result, Sara Ruth Ylen accused at least two men of having violently raped her.

May 2003. Cunning Sara Ruth Ylen falsely claimed she developed cervical cancer from a sexual assault on her by a man in May 2001, and accused another man of raping her. Sara Ylen was regularly treated at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, while a man she accused was sentenced to at least 15 years in prison. She had also falsely accused four men of raping her in previous separate incidences.

September 2012. After almost ten years of prison hell for the innocent man, Sara Ylen's scheme was brought to limelight, and the innocent man's case was looked into again.

November 19, 2012. The innocent man's rape conviction was eventually thrown out after it was revealed in court that Ylen's accusation on him and another man were a part of an insurance fraud plot. Sara Ylen never had cancer. She lied about everything and received insurance benefits plus big heart donations totaling more than $110,000.

May 2013. Sara Ylen was charged with two counts of financial fraud and two counts of false pretense, and one count each of using a computer to commit a crime and health care fraud by making a false statement.

December 5, 2013. Port Huron. Sara Ylen was convicted of making up a story about two men attacking her at her Lexington home, 80 miles northeast of Detroit. The jury also convicted her of tampering with evidence by using makeup to create what looked like bruises.

January 17, 2014. Port Huron. Sara Ylen was sentenced to a minimum of two years in prison on the false rape report and a minimum of three years in prison for evidence tampering. Sentences are to be served consecutively as minimum of five years.
