Jamestown, Chautauqua County, New York, USA. Man abandons malfunctioned truck then reports it stolen. His stunt backfires with some well deserved charges against him.

December 23, 2018. fictim Matthew Mansfield called 911 and reported his truck stolen from his property and later signed deposition that he wanted the person / people responsible to be arrested.

Troopers eventually located the truck. However, during investigation, evidence obtained from the scene as well as eyewitness accounts revealed that Matthew Mansfield himself was driving the truck, along the way he had technical issues with the vehicle and left it parked on the roadside, then headed home on foot.

December 27, 2018. 26 year-old Matthew Mansfield was charged with third-degree falsely reporting an incident and making a punishable false written statement. Due to his license having two active suspensions, he was additionally charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. He is arraigned for January 2019.
