Fairfax, Fairfax County, Virginia, USA. Fictim blogger Susan Shannon makes false rape claims against a colonel to derail his career. She succeeded even before the MeToo Movement gained social media traction, but her lies cost her $8.4 million.

July 15, 2013. In her WordPress blog, “Short Little Rebel,” Susan Shannon claimed that in 1986 she was raped by a fellow cadet at West Point Military Academy. Her baseless claims came while the named cadet and now colonel, a highly-decorated veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan, was a favorite nominee for promotion to one-star general - a prospect which was shattered as Susan’s blog post caught the attention of decision makers up the ranks. The post also led the Army to launch a criminal investigation into the colonel, further tarnishing his reputation.

In 2014, the colonel had enough and filed a defamation lawsuit against Susan Shannon.

April 13, 2015. The defamation case was remanded from federal court to the Circuit Court of Fairfax County, Virginia. According to the lawsuit, “The allegations of rape were investigated by U.S. Army [Criminal Investigation Command], and it was determined that there was no testimonial or physical evidence to corroborate Defendant Susan Shannon‘s statements”. Court records also indicate that when Susan Shannon resigned from the military academy in 1986, she denied having been sexually assaulted. The case went to trial in July 2017.

August 01, 2017. A Virginia court found Susan Shannon's rape claims were untrue, and in naming the colonel in her claims defamed him to the tune of $8.4 million which the 52 year old fictim was ordered by the court to pay the colonel.

Perhaps another case of regretted past? retrospectively withdrawn consent? testing the waters for feminoid take-over of the US Army? or just looking to do some damage to the so-called "patriarchy" and consequently gain some feminocentric-driven fame via unsubstantiated claims? Whatever the case may be, it looks like Susan Shannon's actions have now indebted her life to the Army colonel. It is unlikely she will afford to pay up even if she works every hour for the rest of her days on earth. So, what if we suggest that the feminist movement (which is much more than a 85 million strong in the US alone) took ten cents contribution from each member to rescue one of their own? Just a thought!
