December 23, 2019. Morning. Police Officers responded to the parking lot of the Columbia Center Mall for a report of a strong-armed robbery. Nadia Rodriguez alleged she was pushed to the ground by a male who then stole her purse and ran from the area, according to a Kennewick Police Department Facebook post. Nadia advised she was employed by the Juice Shop in the mall and her stolen purse contained the shop's deposit of several thousand dollars.

However, during an investigation, officers reviewed surveillance footage in the area that made them question Nadia's story. After further questioning, it was determined the robbery was staged. The male who attacked Nadia was identified as a teen co-worker used by her to make the staged crime look real. He was arrested and the stolen money was recovered while he was charged with 2nd Degree Theft.

31-year-old Nadia Rodriguez was also arrested and booked into the Benton County Jail on charges of 2nd Degree Theft and False Reporting. This is still an active investigation.
