Barre, Washington County, Vermont, USA. The male version of an attention ****e. No word in English so we might just name it David Reed, the man who hurt himself and then got his neighbors to call the cops, all for attention sake.

January 31, 2007. Noon. Police officers responded to an East Barre residence from where they received a report of a victim of break-in and assault. It was David Reed who had asked the neighbors to call 911 after they found him staggering down the street with injuries. David Reed had told his neighbors and then police, that a man approximately 6'5", wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, had broken into his home, hit him on the head and stabbed him. David alleged that the attack left him unconscious for an unknown period of time after which he came out for help.

Officers did notice minor injuries to his head and shoulder consistent with the reported incident and transported him to Central Vermont Medical Center for treatment. The community was alerted of the scary 6'5 perpetrator in hoody out to hurt people.

Barre Town Police Chief requested assistance from the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from where detectives conducted an investigation including examining forensic evidence from the scene of the attack. But that evidence told a different story from the reported incident.

February 07, 2007. David Reed was once again interviewed by detectives and this time he confessed that there was no assailant at his house, his injuries were self-inflicted, and that he had staged the entire incident. Motive? none officially provided, but we suspect it had something to do with getting the attention of the female neighbor.

27-year-old David Reed was charged with Providing False Information to Police, and issued a citation. No word on
