July 20, 2017. Officers respond to a medical center call in reference to a kidnap and sexual assault. Police arrived the center and met with the alleged victim Sandra Elizeth Zavala who told them that while she was on her way home from a store in rural Donna, a man abducted her and sexually assaulted her.
During the investigation, officers determined there were inconsistencies in Sandra Zavala’s story. They interviewed her about the inconsistencies and she confessed to filing a false report and lying to Investigators about what actually happened. She then claimed she had been out with a friend all night, and feared her parents would kick her out of the house. So she concocted a kidnap and sexual assault story.
August 04, 2017. A 24-year old Sandra Elizeth Zavala was arrested and charged for the offense of False Report to a Peace Officer, a class B Misdemeanor, then sent to the Hidalgo County Jail on a $1,000 cash surety bond.
